Public opinion on drug policy is important to debate and reform. This project explored how drug policy preference data as captured in the National Drug Strategy Household Survey (NDSHS) relates to geography and particular drug policy models (e.g. decriminalisation).

There are two streams of work:

  1. Drug policy preferences in Greater Western Sydney. This project looked at the impact of geography on drug policy preference data using the case study of Greater Western Sydney. Analysis focused on geographic differences in support for policy preferences and different levels of drug policy engagement in different areas.
  2. Interpreting public opinion survey data. This project aims to analyse how the National Drug Strategy Household Survey data can be used to represent public opinion on different models of drug decriminalisation.
