The research project designed a plan for qualitative measures, indicators and data sources to inform the development of the National Suicide Prevention Outcomes Framework. The plan complements the AIHW-led quantitative data indicators in the mixed methods framework. The design approach was a rapid evidence synthesis and consultation with people with lived experience and other stakeholders. The review included academic, policy and practice literature from Australia and internationally on qualitative measures of prevention of suicidal distress, support for people who experience suicidal distress and enablers for these parts of a suicide prevention system, including measures for suicide prevention strategies and frameworks. The consultation was co-production workshops with key stakeholders, including the NSPO Advisory Board and Lived Experience Partnership Group, to identify meaningful qualitative measures.
