Abstract:

Lately we have been hearing and reading about teaching in the 'Flipped Classroom' model, for example in the recent Technical Paper by Seaton, King and Sandison in May 2014 Volume of the AustMS Gazette. But what is this all about?

Randell Heyman is a postgraduate student who has also been a sessional tutor at UNSW since 2008, Jonathan Kress is Senior Lecturer and Thanom Shaw is the 2014 Teaching Fellow, in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, UNSW.

Randell has recently been to the University of Wollongong, and Jonathan and Thanom have recently been to the ANU in Canberra and the University of Newcastle to see the Flipped Classroom in action. In this seminar Randell, Jonathan and Thanom will briefly present an account of their visits. There will be an opportunity to continue discussion after the seminar over lunch in the Tea Room.
