About Master of Actuarial Studies at UNSW
UNSW Master of Actuarial Studies is an 18-month, full–time degree from UNSW Business School. We currently rank 1st worldwide for research in risk & actuarial science and the Actuaries Institute has accredited this degree.
You’ll prepare for an interesting and in-demand career path in actuarial and analytics industries. Building upon your existing skills in linear algebra, R, or econometrics, you’ll gain technical expertise in quantitative analysis.
The Master of Actuarial Studies is ideal if you want to work as an actuarial analyst or in a similar role. Our students become mathematical specialists in risk management in the financial services industries, especially insurance and superannuation.
Your Specialisation
You’ll build specialist skills and knowledge from studying four core courses and eight elective courses that meet your career goals. In the core courses you’ll study probability, statistics, financial mathematics, finance, financial reporting and business economics.
Your chosen elective courses will further develop your actuarial practice in areas like corporate finance and big data. There are more than 15 topics to choose from including asset-liability management, actuarial data analytic applications, and actuarial statistics. You can even choose some non-actuarial courses in other business fields such as data analytics, accounting, economics or finance.
If you don’t have an undergraduate degree in actuarial studies, consider the Master of Actuarial Studies (Extension), which offers four additional courses in actuarial topics.
