About Master of Actuarial Studies (Extension) at UNSW
UNSW Master of Actuarial Studies (Extension) is a two year, full–time degree from UNSW Business School. We currently rank 1st worldwide for research in risk & actuarial science and the Actuaries Institute has accredited this degree.
This degree is ideal if you have studied a non-actuarial undergraduate degree or if you want deeper knowledge of an actuarial specialisation. You can also incorporate professional actuarial subjects that cover topics such as information technology or enterprise risk management.
The degree has four extra courses in comparison to the Master of Actuarial Studies. You’ll develop your existing skills in linear algebra or econometrics with quantitative analysis, becoming a mathematical specialist in risk management for the financial services industries – especially insurance and superannuation.
Your Specialisation
You’ll build specialist skills and knowledge from studying four core courses and twelve elective courses that meet your career goals. In the core courses you’ll study probability, statistics, financial mathematics, finance, financial reporting and business economics.
Your chosen elective courses will further develop your actuarial practice in risk assessment areas like life insurance and superannuation. There are more than 25 courses to choose from that span mathematics, marketing, information technology, finance and economic topics.
