This course was established by the (formerly named) School of Mining Engineering in 1998 at the request of the Chief Inspector of Mines. It offers an industry-required qualification without the need to enrol in an award program such as the Graduate Diploma of Mine Ventilation. The only qualification of its kind recognised in both New South Wales and Queensland, it provides competency-based education in key aspects of underground environmental engineering.
