UNSW Engineering students are eligible to spend one or two semesters overseas at a partner university and receive credits towards their program, while living and travelling in a new country. The courses you take while on exchange are credited back to your UNSW program as credit transfer.
We strongly recommend that you start planning your proposed exchange early. It will take approximately nine months from lodging your application to enrolling at the host university. Prior to application, you must also complete the online Exchange Tutorial.
We offer a number of scholarships and financial rewards for student exchange, including:
Eight Engineering at UNSW Exchange Scholarships, available yearly and each valued at $2,000. No application is required for this scholarship - recipients will be considered based on their UNSW Exchange application. Learn more on our Scholarships for Student Exchange website.
The Exchange Assistance Scholarship valued at $5,000. It encourages students with financial needs to experience a formal international exchange.
OS-Help is a loan that provides Commonwealth Government financial assistance to eligible students. It helps pay a range of overseas study expenses. Visit the OS-Help page for more information.
Centrelink Payments such as youth allowance, can usually be continued while on exchange. You must notify Centrelink of your exchange before leaving Australia otherwise payments may be stopped.
